What is CH Responder?

CH Responder is the first Swiss application dedicated to First Responders that will allow the cantonal rescuer to intervene in the event of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA).

CH Responder is the new app developed in collaboration with the cantons of Bern, Basel, Basel-Landschaft, Solothurn and Ticino that will allow First Responders (FR) recognised in one of these cantons to intervene in an emergency.

How does it work?

The app allows any person – who has already attended a CPR course recognized by BLS/AED and by the cantonal association that promotes the project – to register as a FR. The rescuer, once registered, will be active to receive push notifications on any emergencies that will occur nearby.

As for the cantonal app – the First Responders – if they are geo-located in one of the cantons participating in the CH Responder program, they will receive push notifications from the local 144 Station. Once the mission is accepted, the rescuers are guided to the emergency site to practice first aid to the victim.

Why CH Responder?

Every year in Switzerland more than 8,000 victims are affected by a SCA and less than 5% survive. In addition, for every minute without first aid, the chances of survival are reduced by 10%.

For this reason, we decided to collaborate with our partners to create a national app that aims to increase the chances of survival in case of SCA, increasing the number of FRs that can be alerted.
